San Francisco’s Most Beloved Tattoo Parlors (Now Reopened)

Suffice to say the past six-plus months have been a testing time for the Bay Area’s small business, particularly ones considered higher risk like nail and hair salons, fitness centers, massage parlors — and the oddball in the group, tattoo shops.

As we mentioned earlier today, the above businesses were allowed to open their doors for indoor services at limited capacity this week after remaining shuttered since March. Perhaps those taking the biggest sighs of relief this week are our city’s beloved — and incredibly talented — tattoo artists. (No more Craigslist tattoo sessions or other shady, below-the-brow means to get some new ink. Though, I will always stan stick-and-poke home kits.)

It’s worth mentioning that most tattoo parlors are inherently clean; they need to abide by clinically clean standards in order to operate lawfully… pandemic or no pandemic. And those protocols have been amplified even more, courtesy of the city.
