I genuinely can’t wax and highlight and pedestal this fact enough: San Francisco is home to one of the densest collections of urban parks of any large metropolis in the country. On any given street corner, the average San Franciscan is just a brief jaunt — read: about a seven-minute walk — from a nearby City-maintained park or open space. The same pro-grass sentiment also carries over to our canine besties; San Francisco is, after all, the most dog-friendly city in the entire country.

In a week that’s already seen a pair of triumphs for local urbanites fond of Mother Nature — JFK Drive was deemed a permanent car-free corridor after a long in the tooth SF board of supervisors meeting; Mayor Breed cut the ribbon at Battery Bluff Park in the Presidio on Saturday, April 23rd — Francisco Park became the third win for local nature lovers when it officially debuted to the public Wednesday morning.
